How to Compare Blenders
There are countless blenders on the market today, and just as many blender reviews. When choosing a blender there can be several deciding factors, from the size and power of the motor down to the color of the blender itself. One easy way to narrow down your options would be the purpose you intend to use the blender. If you just want to make milkshakes once in a while you don’t need to spend $300 on an expensive multipurpose blender.

How to Compare Blenders
It’s important to know the following three things when you compare blenders. What is the jar made of, what type of blade does it have, and how powerful is the motor?
Most blenders come with one of three types of jars: glass, metal, or plastic. Glass jars are easiest to clean, but they do stand the chance of being dropped and breaking. Plastic jars rattle more and can get scratched more easily. Metal containers are probably the best. They only stand the risk of getting dented but most manufacturers provide a warranty to cover such occurrences.
When looking at the blade, it is unlikely that you would come across something other than metal, however there are some blenders that come with a plastic blade. Be sure that the blade is made of stainless steel, because any other type of metal could rust and leave unwanted flavors behind on anything that you blend. Also you want to make sure the pieces that connect the blade to the base are not made of plastic. The reason being, when chopping something hard, plastic tends to break easily.
Motor sizes in the cheaper models of blenders are rated by the amount of watts used. The more expensive blenders rate motors by horsepower. No matter how the motor is rated the higher the power the quicker it can spin the blade and chop things like ice. Most cheap blenders will have power ratings around or under 400 watts. These motors will have a tough time crushing and blending hard ingredients. A 1000 Watt motor on the other hand will crush ice with ease.
When choosing a blender the most important thing you can do is get one constructed from quality materials. Sometimes cheaper blenders are constructed more soundly then their more expensive counterparts. So as long as you know what you’re looking for, you should walk away happy.
